Fellow 400 Club members "marched" on Washington, D.C. (or to be more accurate traveled to Washington) to see our Atlanta Braves meet the Washington Nationals in the new Nationals Park for a three game series. The first Major League trip of the 2008 season was a huge success.

Aside from some colder temperatures on Sunday April 13th, the weather and the play of our Braves made for a pleasant spring trip to our nation's capitol.

Some excellent pitching and timely hitting accounted for Braves victories in the Friday and Saturday games. Sunday's outcome while a loss was exciting up until the final out as the Braves came within one run and had the bases loaded when the third out was recorded.

For those of you that missed this trip, look for our next trip in August when St. Louis is our destination.

Many of those that traveled to D.C. took advantage of the location and did a great deal of sightseeing. Washington's Metro Rail service was extremely beneficial for both sightseeing and for visiting the ball park. The National's new stadium is a very short walk from a rail station and many fans take the rail line to each game. It's a shame we are not as fortunate here in Atlanta.

Upon leaving the rail station and turning to the left, you see the entrance to the ball park

This large screen in centerfield is similar to those in most ball parks these days

How about a view of those 400 Club members from another angle?

Saturday's game had a rain delay.   Fans awaited the removal of the tarp.

Concourse side of the large screen, notice the Inaugural Season Logo

The Washington Monument can be seen from the rear of section 301

The Capitol Dome can be seen from the same point by turning slightly to the right

And if you turn completely around, you can see a naval vessel at berth
