Brandon Phillips - Redan High School

Brandon, a four year starter at Redan, was a member of the 400 Club High School All-Star team the last two years. During his senior season he batted .580 with 14 HR's, 21 SB's, and 50 RBI's in just 81 at-bats. When not playing scintillating shortstop, Brandon found time to post a 6-0 record and 1.86 ERA as a hard throwing right-hander.

Brandon has signed with the Montreal Expos who selected Brandon in the second round of the 1999 amateur draft. Named as one of the Montreal's top prospects by Baseball Weekly, the future certainly looks bright for this year's "Red Wooten" award winner.

The Braves 400 Club's High School Player of the Year Award is named in memory of long-time Braves scout Henry F. "Red" Wooten. Red scouted the Atlanta area for 26 years for the Braves organization.
