Glenn Hubbard and Michael Marcey - Braves 400 Club President |
The Braves' first base coach the past two seasons, Glenn Hubbard was the team's starting second baseman for nine straight years (1979-87), the longest such stretch at that position in modern franchise history, (since 1900).
Hubbard's best season was 1983 when he batted .263 with career highs of 12 home runs and 70 RBIs, made the NL All-Star team, and led major league second basemen in doubleplays. He set a then-Atlanta record for second basemen with a .991 fielding percentage in 1981, then played a critical role in the Braves winning the division title the next year. -- Text courtesy of Gary Caruso, ChopTalk magazine
