Shortstop - Jeff Blauser (1987-97)

Jeff Blauser spent six seasons as the Braves starting shortstop (1990, '93-97), more than any other player except for Rafael Ramirez, who also held the job for six years (1981-86). He performed with mixed results at times, but no other Atlanta shortstop accomplished what Blauser did.

In 1997, his last with the Braves, Blauser set an Atlanta record for shortstops with a .973 fielding percentage. He also made the NL All-Star team for the second time and hit a career-high .308 with a personal-best 17 home runs.

Blauser holds Atlanta records for batting average, home runs and RBIs by a shortstop (73 in '93). On July 12, 1992, he became only the fourth shortstop in major league history to hit three home runs in a game. In 1993, he became the first Braves shortstop since Al Dark in 1948 to hit .300.
